Snohomish County Awards $500,000 in Pandemic Recovery Grants to 21 Arts and Culture Organizations.

Snohomish County, Wash., May 10, 2023 – Executive Dave Somers today announced that Snohomish County is awarding $500,000 to 21 arts and culture organizations. The Arts and Culture Recovery Grants fund organizations so they can continue activities that support public benefit and enhance community engagement through mid-to-large events and festivals held in Snohomish County. These grants are funded through the County’s federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) allocation. Read the entire Press Release HERE.


On September 10, 2022, the Ethiopian friendship city signal box was unveiled at the corner of Hwy 99 and 200th St. SW in Lynnwood. This special day was chosen as it is also the day to celebrate the Ethiopian New Year! This project was supported by the 2022 Arts and Culture Grant from Snohomish County Arts Commission.


 In August 2022, artists from across the United States and Mexico gathered for a four-day, Paint Jam event to create over 30 murals throughout the city of Everett. Going All City NW 2022 was in collaboration with the Downtown Everett Association, City of Everett and the Schack Art Center.


On May 31, 2022, Memorial Day, Haller Bridge was rededicated as a Veterans Memorial Bridge. A sculpture by local artists Caroline Sumpter and Don Frazier and interpretive kiosk are also a part of the memorial. This was a collaborative effort between local veterans, the City of Arlington, the Snohomish County Arts Commission, the Snohomish County Conservation & Natural Resources, and the Snohomish County Parks & Recreation.

On March 21, 2022, the Arts Commission honored Councilmember Megan Dunn for her commitment to the cultural arts. Because of her efforts, we were able to expand our Arts & Culture Grant Program that provides funding to arts programs throughout Snohomish County. Thank you Councilmember Dunn!

 
 

“Seed of hope” sculpture unveiling

On March 12, 2022, the Arts Commission hosted an unveiling ceremony to celebrate a new sculpture in Esperance Park in Edmonds, WA. Created by world renown artist, Tsovinar Muradyan, this sculpture is now available for viewing by the public.
