Village Theater: I Do! I Do!

  • Village Theater at the Everett Performing Arts Center (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

An intimate and nostalgic musical chronicling 50 years of life and love, this two-person Broadway classic was created by the writing team behind The Fantasticks and garnered seven Tony Award nominations in 1967. The story begins on the wedding day of Michael and Agnes and follows the perils and triumphs of marriage, children, arguments, and more. Village Theatre’s production will feature Kendra Kassebaum (Broadway: RENT, Come From Away; National Tour: Glinda in Wicked) and Peter Saide (Off-Broadway: Desperate Measures; National Tour: Prince Charming in Cinderella), taking on the roles that were originated on Broadway by Mary Martin and Robert Preston. Together with director Michael Arnold, they will tell a story that crosses generations and connects us all in the very real (and ultimately human) journey of love.

Schack Art Center: Animal Kingdom

Featuring Janie Olsen, 2019 Artist of the Year

Join us for this exhibit celebrating the amazing talent of Janie Olsen, our 2019 Artist of the Year.

Opening Reception: March 7, 2019, 5-8pm

Artist Statement

Every story tells a picture...My acrylic paintings in a Magical Realism style can be whimsical, mystical at times, or just simply there. Being a continual daydreamer, I am passionately attracted to fairy tales. The ideas of nature, romance, and chaos, and the notion of opposites, good vs.evil and ugly vs. beauty. There is always some sort of story (or hidden meaning) behind each painting in my mind. Sometimes it is difficult to put into words what the meaning of a piece is, but each painting is to speak for itself and have the viewer go away with his or her own thoughts about the piece. What the viewer thinks about my work is more important than the story she may give.

Schack Art Center: STEM+Art+Design

Schack Art Center: STEM+Art+Design

Opening reception: April 25, 2019, 5-8pm

For this exhibition, STEM+Art+Design: Northwest Designer Craftsmen Create,  Art + Design are added to STEM to demonstrate how artists design and create works of art integrating STEM principles.

For example, imagine a ceramic artist creating work on an electric wheel using precision measuring instruments to ensure the piece is perfectly proportioned; then firing in a highly technical computer driven kiln at temperatures specific to the clay body and glazes used to create the effects designed by the artist. All of these, and many more, technical aspects of the ceramic artist's work are richly entrenched in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Each NWDC member uses various integrations of STEM to create their work. Whether weaving, dyeing, metalsmithing, melting glass or creating mixed media works of art-all are highly invested in STEM principals.

STEM+Art+Design also supports the current emphasis in Washington state curriculum on STEM: the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math through project-based educational experiences.

EVERETT KID STAGE PRESENTS

Aurora, Iris, Jamie, Bernie, and Mallory are all teased at school for being different. When they are given an assignment to research historical figures, each are inspired to accept their own — and each other’s — differences. This Is What They Tell Me explores the consequences of stereotyping others and asks the question, "How do we define ourselves?"

Edmonds Spring Fest 2019

Edmonds Spring Fest is returning this May!

We'll be featuring 100 high-quality handmade artists and makers of all kinds--clothing, jewelry, bath & body, art, housewares and more!

Last year’s event was hugely successful (and we really scored on the weather)! Holding this event the day before Mother’s Day also seemed to be a great idea, so we are keeping it that same weekend for 2019.

We’ll have some new additions this year like picnic tables near the food trucks, which will provide more opportunity for folks to eat comfortably and linger longer. We are looking into other fun ways to keep fans around for the day so this will be a fun-filled event for the whole family. We are thrilled to be bringing this event back to Edmonds again and look forward to another successful show!

The day will be divided between group activities and break-out sessions, during which Silver Kite teaching artists lead participants in tailored arts activities.

As part of ECA’s Dementia-Inclusive Series, this program is designed for family and professional caregivers, and those they care for. Admission is free-of-charge, and lunch is provided! For more information, contact Gillian Jones, Director of Programming, at gillian@ec4arts.org or 425.275.9483.
